Hello over here! With my boyfriend, we went to Ibiza during the month of July for a week and it was the opportunity to introduce him to this island for which he had so many preconceptions(like a lot of people).
We took the risk of leaving despite the current events related to COVID and inevitably the atmosphere there was not the same. I take this little paragraph to reassure you and share our feelings: we felt super safe there, much more than in France. First of all, there are very few cases on the Balearic Islands and on site it is really safe. They take the temperature at the entrance of certain hotels, certain restaurants, there are hydroalcoholic gels available everywhere, nightclubs are closed and police officers monitor cities to ensure that everyone is wearing a mask.
The fastest and easiest way to get to Ibiza is by plane. Most major cities in Europe offer direct flights to Ibiza, which is always nicer. Ibiza has an international airport in Eivissa (IBZ).
>> EN BATEAU
You can also get to Ibiza by boat from port cities like Barcelona and Valencia or if you are on one of the other Balearic Islands there are connections between each island.
>> Information COVID
It is necessary to complete a document 48 hours before your flight on the Internet (for all flights to Spain) to receive a QR code which will be requested at the airport. This document is available on the Spanish government website.
You have many options for exploring Ibiza. Getting around Ibiza is quite easy as it is a small island with an area of around 571 square kilometers. You can easily cross most parts of the island in an hour.
>> VIA L’AÉROPORT
At the airport you will find a space for taxis outside but note that during high season lines are very long. I advise you to organize your transfers from the airport to your accommodation in advance. The bus is still the cheapest way. During summer you have buses that leave every 15 to 20 minutes.
>> BY TAXI
In town you can find taxis easily, by stopping them or in many stations. Taxis in Ibiza charge you based on a meter system that typically starts at € 3.65.
>> EN BUS
There is a good network of public buses that can take you pretty much anywhere in Ibiza. It stretches across the entire island and connects popular beaches and most major resorts. It remains the cheapest means of transport to get around Ibiza and it is important to note that they are comfortable and air conditioned.
Here is a link to the official website where you can take a closer look at bus lines (IbizaBus)
>> LOUER UNE VOITURE
To explore Ibiza at your own pace, car rental is still the best form of transport for me. Renting a car in Ibiza remains affordable as there are many companies so they have to keep prices competitive throughout the year.
>> IBIZA TOWN
For those who want to experience the more authentic and traditional side of Ibiza, staying in Ibiza town is a great idea. The best place is the old quarter of Dalt Vila which sits right above the harbor and is home to the island's magnificent Gothic cathedral. But on the newer side of town you'll find plenty of cocktail bars, attractive restaurants, designer boutiques and beautiful yachts. Ibiza town is therefore a beautiful mix of all that makes Ibiza unique.
>> TALAMANCA
Located at the northern tip of Ibiza, Talamanca offers a quiet and convenient place to stay with the advantage of being close to the beach. It is a beautiful coastal region with beautiful scenery, the beach and easily accessible water sports, but it is also a more affordable area, offering a great choice of all-inclusive resorts and tourist-oriented bars and restaurants. It is a popular area for families and couples.
>> SANT JORDI DE SES SALINES
It is one of the main nightlife spots on the island with the biggest and most famous bars and nightclubs in Europe. This is also where the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza is located, which hosts internationally renowned artists. So this is a good neighborhood for party animals.
>> SAN ANTONIO
The Mediterranean is renowned for its amazingly good and fresh food, and Ibiza is no exception. You will find a wide range of restaurants in Ibiza, from the simplest to the most elegant, but above all you will find them on every corner. Here is my little list of restaurants in which I enjoyed myself during this short stay.
GOLDEN BUDDHA IBIZA
This is our favorite restaurant in Ibiza. It is located in San Antonio and the atmosphere that breathes in this space is simply magical. The music, the decoration, Balinese beds, the sea view… everything goes perfectly to get a special and relaxing moment. Beyond the setting, the food is incredibly good and above all very affordable (unlike many restaurants in Ibiza where the prices are quickly very expensive).
CAFE DEL MAR
KASBAH IBIZA
The Kasbah, again located in San Antonio, offers delicious Mediterranean cuisine. It is also a sublime spot to admire the sunsets of Ibiza.
JARDIN LA BRASA
Located in Eivissa or Ibiza Town, this is a restaurant in one of the most charming gardens in Ibiza. The setting is simply idyllic and their Mediterranean menu based on fresh fish and grilled meats is simply delicious.
CAPUCCINO GRAND CAFE
Located in the port of Eivissa on the luxury side, this restaurant is for me the best place to enjoy a good breakfast. The quality of food is amazing and you have a wonderful view of Ibiza town.
